'Darkroom' 52min / 2003

The documentary, DARKROOM, looks at the life of Harry Thuillier Jnr who died at the age of 33 in mysterious circumstances in December I997.

The documentary covers his life and work and is intercut with the only audio interview with Harry himself, in which he speaks extensively about life, death, photography and the struggles he experienced as an artist in Ireland.

The documentary coincides with the release of his first book of works which was launched in Dublins' Gallery of Photography on March 5 th, 2003, the proceeds of which are donated to The Merchant’s Quay Project, a drugs rehabilitation centre in Dublin.

DARKROOM was filmed on a Canon XL1s, provided kindly by Canon Ireland. Darkroom is Ian Thuillier's directorial debut. It was co-written and co-produced with Simon King and narration by Pheilim Drew and is a Pixel8 production for RTÉ Television.
